The Centre has reportedly sanctioned Rs 2014.45 crore as relief for drought and cyclone Vardah to Tamil Nadu. According to reports, the government has released Rs 1748.28 crore for drought, Rs 264.11 crore for Vardah and Rs 2.06 crore for drinking water crisis in the state. Notably, Tamil Nadu had earlier sought an assistance of Rs 39,565 crore as relief for severe drought.

According to reports, the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly passed a bill to make the racing sport legal in the state. Notably, bullock cart racing was banned along with jallikattu in 2014.
